Baseball is coming North, and before the Phillies play a game at Citizens Bank Park and before the IronPigs season opener versus the Clippers at Coca Cola Park, and before Reading opens at home versus the Somerset Yankees….The IronPigs and R-Phils will resume their annual (non-pandemic seasons) pre-season scrimmage. This season it’s at The Coke on Sunday evening, April 3.
The original press release from January 25 mentioned complimentary tickets for full-season Bacon USA Members, yet I had yet to receive mine as of earlier today. A request resulted in the quick addition of the seats to my online account. As in previous seasons, when the ‘Pigs have hosted the contest, the seats will all be General Admission “first come” and all be in the lower seating bowl. It makes sense for the first team opening to host the game, as the IronPigs need to be ready for show time two days later, anyway.
It seems like every time the ‘Pigs host, the weather is horrible. I remember some very, very cold and windy nights. I remember one or two that were cancelled due to rain or miserableness. Hopefully this season will be different–but given the choice of course I’d choose the better weather for Tuesday, April 5, when the ‘Pigs open at home.
Anyway, tickets are $9 and the proceeds go to IronPigs Charities. I’ll try to link a ticket page HERE. But you can also find that ticket page by clicking the above graphic on the IronPigs home page as you scroll down.
I’m not certain why it hasn’t been pumped up more. And why I didn’t automatically receive tickets or have them printed as part of my ticket books. But, perhaps they don’t want to water down the demand for opening night and they also might not have everything up to snuff for the game, and don’t want huge crowds. Nevertheless, it’s nice to get out to the first game of the season and nice for many IronPigs fans to see the “Future Pigs” of the AA Reading “Fightin” R-Phils.
So I wanted to remind y’all of the game, to make sure you have it on your calendar. And, I’ll…
…see you at the park,
@Kram207
