Just as we thought, now that the Flyers made it through last night without a defensive injury (save Ghost, golly, glad he’s OK) the Phantoms no longer need to maintain as much depth on the blue line and multiple scratches.  With Reading also opening up at home tonight, Pettersson and Lamarche will make their way to the Santander to help out.  Here’s the official release from the Phantoms:

Lehigh Valley, PA – The Lehigh Valley Phantoms, proud AHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers, have loaned defensemen Maxim Lamarche and Jesper Pettersson to the Reading Royals of the ECHL.
The Phantoms kick off the 2016-2017 regular season tonight at 7:05 p.m. when they welcome the Springfield Thunderbirds, the new AHL affiliate of the Florida Panthers, to PPL Center. Limited tickets remain for this evening’s highly-anticipated home opener and can be purchased HERE. The first 8,500 fans in attendance tonight will receive a rally towel courtesy of The Morning Call.
A 24-year-old blueliner from Laval, Quebec, Lamarche is entering his fourth professional season and split last year between the Phantoms (29 games, 1 goal, 5 assists, 6 points) and Royals (27 games, 5 goals, 7 assists, 12 points).
A 22-year-old defenseman from Stockholm, Sweden, Pettersson is entering his third professional campaign and also split time last season between Lehigh Valley (24 games, 1 goal, 2 assists, 3 points) and Reading (43 games, 4 goals, 16 assists, 20 points).

The Phantoms are coming off their 20th Anniversary Season and second campaign in the Lehigh Valley playing at the state-of-the-art PPL Center.  Established in 1996, the Phantoms spent their first 13 seasons at the Spectrum in Philadelphia before re-locating to Glens Falls, New York in 2009 where the team spent the next five seasons as the Adirondack Phantoms.  A new era of Phantoms hockey began in the fall of 2014 when the Lehigh Valley Phantoms began play at the state-of-the-art PPL Center.  Through 19 incredibly successful campaigns, the Phantoms have captured two Calder Cup Championships (1998, 2005), two Conference Championships (1998, 2005), two Regular Season Titles (1996-97, 1997-98) and four Division Championships (1996-97, 1997-98, 1998-99, 2003-04).
