Roster Moves

RHP Frank Herrmann had contract selected by Philadelphia.

LHP Hoby Milner promoted to LHV from Reading (AA).

INF Emmanuel Burriss had contract selected by Philadelphia.

LHP Elvis Araujo added to Lehigh Valley roster (optioned by PHI, 8/17).

OF Osmel Aguila added to the DL (right shin contusion) retroactive to 8/17.

INF Taylor Featherston added to Lehigh Valley roster (optioned by PHI, 8/19).

OF David Lough released by Philadelphia.

Featherston returns to his familiar #6; #5 is now assigned to DL player Aguila–will Asche make a play for it?; the IronPigs now have 126 transactions in 128 games.

2016 LHV Roster-8-22

I wrote about some of the prior transactions earlier today.  I have to say I didn’t see the Lough release coming, but it does make sense when you think about it.  His left-handed bat in the outfield becomes a bit redundant with Cody Asche; Williams has to play every day and Hunter has out-played Lough.  They played the “shin contusion” game with Lough previously, so now it’s just letting him try to hook on somewhere to get playing time.  I’m somewhat sad to see him go–I thought he was a veteran hitter who could do things in the lineup for the IronPigs down the stretch.  However, I would take Featherson>Burriss in the course of that transaction, as well as Asche>Lough.  So while we bid Lough farewell, I think we come out with a slightly better lineup overall as we head towards the playoffs (hopefully).

Tonight’s Lineup

Versus the RailRiders, who are now without OF Aaron Judge, INF Tyler Austin, and C Gary Sanchez–but still have Frazier and Gamel and Refsnyder and Higgomopotomous or whatever:

Perkins CF

Crawford SS

Williams RF

Ruf DH

Asche LF

Knapp C

Stassi 1B

Sweeney 3B

Valentin 2B

(Vasquez P)

*No Feather, alas.

See you at the park,
