The IronPigs have now played 17 games, and made 13 roster moves.

Analysis:

The ‘Pigs moved into first place with today’s win in Pawtucket.  It’s the first time they’ve occupied the spot since July, 2012.  They begin to try to recapture the IronRain, in Moosic, tomorrow for a three-game set.  Thursday they have a much-needed day off.

Charlie Morton pulled a hammie last night, and the Phillies will take the opportunity to continue the musical bull-pen chairs, grabbing Luis Garcia from the IronPigs.  Garcia started off with some difficult appearances, but has been lights-out of late, and certainly deserved the opportunity to showcase on the bigger stage once again.

In the mean time, speculation begins on who might be the starter to join the Phillies for Morton’s next turn in the rotation.  The Phillies are off tomorrow, and probably won’t need a starter until Saturday versus the Indians in Philly.  Mark Appel is due to go Friday for the ‘Pigs, and could go up for his debut with an extra day of rest or two.  David Buchanan pitched today, and would also be on an extra day of rest on Saturday.  Adam Morgan has the seniority, and has pitched well.  He’s on schedule for Tuesday and could be slotted anywhere during the three games with the Nationals or once they return from Washington to face Cleveland.

In Reading, Asher and Lively have both been throwing well, and could be called up to assume a place in the IronPigs rotation if needed.

See you at the park,
