IronPigs Roster Move: “Lough and Behold”

So David Lough will not be at the autograph table tonight:  He’s batting sixth for the Phillies versus Syndergaard.

OF David Lough:  Had contract selected by Phillies

OF Cedric Hunter:  Optioned to AAA Lehigh Valley

Thoughts:

The exchange of lefty outfielders gives the Phillies another guy who can play center field if need be.  Hunter wasn’t producing like they had hoped–and evidently had an option available.  I’m not sure Lough does–although another lefty, Asche, should begin swinging a bat again in the next ten days so I imagine they’re not worried about losing one of these guys through waivers.  Then there’s Will Venable.  Shuffle and repeat until the big club finds a combination they’re comfortable with.  I’m counting 39 on the 40-man prior to this move, so it does NOT appear that the Phillies will have to clear a 40-man spot for this move.  The suspended Stumpf was replaced by Elvis, who was already on the 40-man.

For the IronPigs, hopefully some of these guys get hot while they’re in town here–not to mention the continued improvement of Nick Williams.
