HOCKEY DAY IN ALLENTOWN: “What Goes Around..” 4/17/2016

“You may be right
I may be crazy
But it just may be a lunatic you’re looking for
Turn out the light
Don’t try to save me
You may be wrong for all I know
But you may be right”

-Billy Joel

Looking Back

The Phantoms lost a close and hard-fought contest with the playoff-bound Pens on Friday night at the PPL Center, by a 2-1 tally.  They headed out to Hershey to free up the arena for Carlos Santana–who wore a Phantoms jersey on stage–and Journey, and lost 4-2.  Goals in Hershey were scored by Smith and Swavely.  Stolie was in net for both contests, and is reportedly playing very well despite the two losses to Calder-quality squads.

Reading Report

The Royals have begun their Kelly Cup campaign by splitting the first two games of the seven game series out in Toledo.  Please check in on them and consider supporting them at a game this week; they’ll be home Tuesday and Wednesday!

The season has come 360 as the Syracuse Crunch come back to Allentown–right where this campaign started.  What goes around, comes back around:

Puck Drop:  5:05PM

Doors:  4:00PM

Tickets and Parking:  Good seats still remain for this game, including discounted seats in section 201.  The Phan Club may have seats left as well if you want to try touching base with them.

Remember, at last notice, the Parking Authority does not check meters on Sundays.  Park at own risk, of course.

Broadcast:  Service Electric are busy beavers today televising baseball, soccer, and hockey.  Find this game along with baseball on TV-2 while soccer gets channel 50.

Media Kit and Rosters:  Crunch Final Game

Pregame:  We’ll be coming over from the IronPigs game, so we’ll see how that goes–might arrive with a nice lather for the start of this game.

What To Watch

  • Watch Stolie.  He’s been really good this season for the most part.  See if maybe he can put this one to bed with a shut-out or something.
  • Watch the kids, as we have:  Lindblom has been playing VERY well, I’ve heard.  I hope that convinces him to come play for us next season; I had heard that he might prefer to stay home in Europe to play, but if he sees he can really compete here and get closer to the NHL, then maybe he can help us in 2016-2017.
  • Watch the “want to.”  I hope this team can give us a win to remember them by, going into the offseason.  Some of these players will be headed to Voorhees to support the Flyers as their Stanley bid continues versus Washington.

Looking Ahead

That’s all she wrote.  There is a Phan Club meeting this week, with some news on off-season activities.  We’ll have some other Phantoms and related posts around here between the baseball, soccer, and football, of course.

I’ve done a ‘hockey night’ post for every single hockey game at the PPL Center.  There’s been tremendous readership, which is why I’ve continued doing them even on baseball days and soccer days and whatnot.  So a ‘thank you’ to my readers who’ve checked in here, commented, or said ‘hello’ on the concourse during this season.  I see the clicks, and we’ve had a lot of fun around here.

I’ll see you at the arena,

How does that saying go?

“Good night, and good hockey!”

-Gene Hart

  1. Phantoms need to put a better product out on the ice. Enough with the never-ending excuse-making. Get it sorted.
