Once Again, There Will Be Phillies in Reading

Coupla quick baseball notes on this day filled with hockey news, and views:

First, the IronPigs are still peddling Star Wars themed products:  Jerseys and socks.  Mostly, it’s an attempt to sell ticket packages for opening day, April 14, 2016 versus Pawtucket.  Might make nice holiday gifts, though…

Second, the IronPigs tweeted a “save the date” for Thursday, January 21, 2016:  The 2016 “Phillies Winter Banquet.”  More news and guests to be announced later.

Finally, the biggest news of the day came through from the Phillies themselves.  They released their official Spring Training Schedule.  It looks something like this:  (notice anything peculiar?)

A “Futures Game?”  To be played in READING?  Be still my heart…

What a great year to be a Reading Season Ticket Holder!  I did it, you know.  I signed up for the full plan!  (Long before knowing about this little development).  Now, I know that the “Futures” tickets won’t be “included,” but we should get first crack….

“Fightins season ticket, mini-plan holders, and group leaders will be able to purchase an unlimited number of tickets for this historic game before they go on sale to the general public.”    –Fightins Web

Yup.  So, you know, if you need seats, let me know.  😉

And the natural extrapolation:  Will there be a “Futures Game” in Allentown in 2017?

See you at the park,
