With only three catchers on the roster, the IronPigs made a move today to swap one out. Logan Moore has been sent back to Reading in exchange for Gabriel Lino.
MiLB File Video:
Lino came to the Phillies organization in 2012, along with RHP Kyle Simon, from the Orioles organization in exchange for 1B/DH Jim Thome. He just turned 22 on May 22, and stands 6’3″, 200lbs. He bats and throws right-handed. He spent most of last season in Clearwater other than a couple weeks in Lakewood. This season, he started in Reading and has hit .266/.333/.431 in 32 games with the Reading franchise, with 3 HR and 9 doubles. He’s struck out 25 times and walked 10 times in 109 at-bats. Behind the plate he’s thrown out an astonishing 48.4% of potential base stealers. Something to watch: There are some close observers who suggest than Gabriel doesn’t receive the ball particularly well from left-handed pitchers–that’s something to watch if he catches Joely tonight. Will Joely get the strike calls on those close pitches?
ICYMI: As we expected, last night Grady Sizemore was officially released by the Phillies after passing unclaimed through waivers. He’s now a free agent.
I was kind of expecting an outfielder move before the game today…Altherr? Brown up? Kelly Dugan off DL? Keep your eyes out for that one late, but for now, here’s a revised, printable roster for tonight:
See you at the park,
