We heard all along it would be May 15–and here we are.  I still can’t believe they made him ride the bus to Rochester, but I’m sure the trip back to Philly will go quickly.

INF Maikel Franco recalled by Philadelphia

INF Edgar Duran placed on the DL (hamstring)

a couple moves of note in Reading yesterday:

Blake Forsythe acquired by Philadelphia (cash) from Oakland, assigned to Reading

RHP Mike Nesseth released

Corey Bass released

RHP Reinier Roibal promoted from Threshers, assigned to Reading.

See you at the park,

@Kram209

  1. Congratulations Maikel!! We knew it was only a matter of time, but we’re still going to miss those sparkling plays at 3rd base and his productive bat. Our loss is Philly’s gain though, because they’re getting the next true superstar.

    Not many people have talked about the fact that Maikel was one of the friendliest, most effusive players on the ‘Pigs team. Many times before a game I’d watch him in and out of the dugout giving everyone high-fives, pats on the back and a few friendly words. He was also a big supporter of Angels for Mark, the team behind Mark DeVoe, a 4th-grader and an IronPigs fan who has Choroideremia, a rare retina disease that robs vision. I often saw him come into the stands by the ‘Pigs dugout to chat with Markie and his dad.

    Of course, the question now is how are the cellar-dwelling IronPigs going to make up for the loss of their most productive hitter. The offense has been struggling (to put it mildly) as it is. I’m hoping Cody Asche’s bat will get hot again and give the ‘Pigs a sorely needed lift.
