OF Darin Mastroianni has been traded to the Washington Nationals organization for cash. Lots and lots of cash. How much? I have no idea, but if it were me, I’d want people to know that it was a lot of cash. Darin was a player IronPigs manager Dave Brundage requested for the season; he was hitting .293 with four stolen bases. It’s unclear at this time if he’s headed to Syracuse or to Washington but I doubt it would be Harrisburg. In any case, we wish him luck. Jordan Danks and Brian Bogusevic can both play center field, with Danks on the 40-man and Bogey having the better season so far. Canzler, Henson, and Brown are around to man the corner spots as needed.
The move opens a roster spot for pitcher David Buchanan who was optioned to the IronPigs over the weekend. He is scheduled to pitch tomorrow night in Louisville as the IronPigs close out their Western road swing. Chad Billingsley will start for the Phillies tonight in Atlanta as he has completed his minor league rehabilitation. C John Hester has been activated from the IronPigs DL and added to the Reading roster to replace Gabriel Lino, who was added to the DL today after taking a foul ball last night in Baseballtown.
On The Hog-rizon:
As the ‘Pigs return from the West later this week, we should also see the activation of Severino Gonzalez with perhaps Domonic Brown headed back to the Majors, as the Mets will be in Philly just as the G-Braves arrive in Allentown. The end-point of the “Outfielder Shuffle” may have Aaron Altherr and/or Cameron Perkins in Allentown with Sevy and/or Buck headed back to the Phillies in the concurrent “Starting Pitcher Shuffle.”
See you at the park,
