Battle for the @PIFLFootball Lead! Steelhawks Face Columbus on Saturday!

Our 4-1 Steelhawks face a stiff challenge this weekend at the PPL Arena when they face the 4-1 Columbus Lions!

Here’s the setup:

Columbus has 4 wins – Richmond twice, Trenton and Alabama.

They have 1 loss – A nailbiter loss to Nashville at home.

The Steelhawks have 4 wins as well – Erie twice, Trenton and Marion (A non-league game)

The Hawks suffered 1 loss – a 28-55 stompin from those in Nashville.

Looking at this from the outside, both teams have 2 wins against teams with sub-500 records. The Steelhawks win against Marion essentially doesn’t count in standings and from the results of other interleague games, the PIFL is the heavier league. The win against Trenton was big, Trenton is 2-3 at this point, but the Hawk’s had this game well in hand at halftime and almost let it get away.. winning with a last second interception in the end zone that could easily have been a game winning catch for the Freedom.

This game is going to be rough. It’s going to be tough. It’s going to be a lot of fun to watch!

With this first game being in the PPL Arena in front of the home fans look for the Steelhawk defense to surge! Look for them to provide short fields for the offense and look for the Hawks to Pass and Run into the end zone many many times. I say first game as following this game the Hawks will get on the road and follow the Columbus bus back to Georgia for a repeat game next week.

Probably two of the most important games of the season for our Hawks and they need and want us out there to make some noise!

Either team could secure the division lead, and a likely playoff spot, by sweeping this two game series. A split would make the later season more interesting. The best part? We get to watch this exciting football right here in our backyard!

Be there! Be excited! Be LOUD!!!

Go Hawks!
