IronPigs Roster Move: Neris for Sevy 4/28/2015 #BaconUSA

As we noted the other day, Severino Gonzalez had his contract selected by the Phillies in order to make tonight’s start in St Louis, and his MLB debut.  We wish Seve luck!

To make room, Hector Neris was re-optioned back to the IronPigs.  He’ll reclaim uniform number 38.

The Phillies also added Jon Pettibone to the 60-day DL to make room on the 40-man roster.  This is somewhat disappointing as I was working under the impression that he’d build arm strength and return to the IronPigs rotation around May 1–which is coming up.

Expect another roster move soon, as the Phillies will need to decide what to do with Dom Brown following tonight’s game.  The opinion here in Kram’s Korner is that they need to activate him and let him play through any bad outcomes.  Yes, it’s ugly at times, but then so is Grady Sizemore.

Here’s a printable roster:

  1. In 1977 Larry Bowa had 624 at bats and hit 4 home runs. So far this season the Ironpigs have 703 at bats and have 4 home runs. Good thing they moved in the fences or they would only have 3. Six players in the International League have at least as many home runs as the Ironpigs with Chris Colabello leading the way with 5. Four of his 5 home runs have come against the Ironpigs..

And yes, I was happy when the Phillies signed Grady Sizemore but it’s getting harder to justify keeping him on the 25 man roster.

  2. Domonic Brown activated from the DL and optioned to AAA.

    • Yup, and so it goes. As he’s been optioned and has time to “report,” I suppose he’s not in the lineup as we await a corresponding roster move–I count 25 plus the rehabbing Billingsley.

      • If UPS rings my bell and tries to give me a package I don’t want, I can simply refuse to sign for it and then that parcel is automatically returned to the sender. With that thought in mind, I wonder if the IronPigs can’t simply just refuse to ‘accept’ the delivery of Dom Brown?
