Hockey and arena fans are familiar with the traffic and parking in the downtown.  If you’re new to the arena, please read this.  Parking will be $6.00.  Set your GPS for your lot, rather than the arena itself.

Tickets

Good seats are still available at PPLCenter.com or at the Mealey Furniture Box Office at 7th/Hamilton entrance, (on the right).  When purchasing tickets at the web site you’ll have the opportunity to purchase arena-garage parking if you desire.  However, you’ll pay fees on both.  The arena garage is pre-paid parking pass only.  You will save some of the fees by purchasing your ticket at the box office window.  Tickets start at just $10.00.

The Matchup

The Marion Blue Racers (2-1) of the X-League visit as part of their “PIFL Challenge” as a replacement for the now-defunct Harrisburg Stampede.  The X-League uses some of the rules from the old XFL, but plays basically the same arena-rules football as our PIFL and the AFL of the Philly Soul.  X-League rules are here. And, PIFL rules are here.

The Lehigh Valley SteelHawks come in to the game at 1-1 having lost a rematch of last years championship game 28-55 in Nashville versus the Venom.  The SteelHawks opened in Erie against the Explosion–a former rival of today’s opponent.  They beat the Explosion 50-43.

The ‘Racers QBs have differing styles, with 5 Obie as the pocket-passer, and 8 Boykin as more of a running/scrambling style.  The ‘Racers could incorporate both into today’s game.

The SteelHawks often struggle with protecting the QB.  If McSweeny can get some time, though, look for the SteelHawks to put up a lot of points as well as force turnovers on defense.

SteelHawks Roster

(Web Version Click Here)

The SteelHawks feature returning QB Shane McSweeny who led the SteelHawks into the playoffs last season as the advanced all the way to the championship game before losing to the Nashville Venom.  QB Zach Zulli out of Shippensburg got into the game last weekend and added a spark to an offense that wasn’t clicking on that day.

Also watch out for WRs Brandon Renford and Mach Ogletree as McSweeny’s favorite downfield targets.  Jaleel Clark out of Missouri is a big target who could get involved as well.

In season’s past, the SteelHawks have been known for their hard-hitting defense.  Watch for DE Larry Ford out of West Virginia and DE/LB Amara Kamara out of Temple.  Both are among league-leaders in sacks.  DE Gerard Bryant is also a force to be reckoned with.

Look for full roster with uniform numbers in the program, which should be available for FREE at the entrances.

A couple other notes:  Look for NoiseNation Dan on the concourse for your autographed memorabilia raffles.  The SteelHawks gear shop should be available as well for all your game-day outfitting needs.

Post-game, you can go on the field to meet the team and coaches for autographs and pictures–as well as the Precious Metals Dancers, who will be running the team 50/50 during the game.  The mascots–Talon and the little gold dude–will be about as well.

The official post-game party location for the SteelHawks is the Visions Bar at the Sands Events Center.  NoiseNation writers are expected to be at Chickie’s and Pete’s following the game to review the action.

Look for “Jimmy T” with the official Digital Cloud SteelHawks Flag on the field after every SteelHawks score!
