Lehigh Valley Rollergirls Announce 2015 Schedule
Bethlehem, PA- The Lehigh Valley Rollergirls (LVRG) are excited to announce their 2015 schedule.
The three teams of the league, the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) sanctioned All-Stars and two home teams (Blast Furnace Betties and Metal Vixens), will be skating a combined 18 games this season and will once again be competing at the Gold Coast Derby Grrls’ 2015 Beach Brawl Tournament in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
The season will open on April 4 with a double header. The first game will be an intraleague face-off between the Blast Furnace Betties and the Metal Vixens. The second game will feature the Lehigh Valley All-Stars taking on the United Kingdom’s Rainy City Roller Girls.This first home game will be played at the Hanover Township Community Center (http://hanovercommunitycenter.com/).
Captain for the All-Stars, Michelle “Tortellina Temptress” Messa, expressed the leagues’ enthusiasm to play at the new venue, “We couldn’t be more thrilled to have Hanover Township Community Center host our season opener. To be able to bring our sport closer to our fans is big, but to be able to showcase it in a whole new venue is huge for us. We hope our fans are just as excited as we are.”
This new venue will be alcohol-free, but fans may enjoy an adult beverage after the game at nearby establishments such as P.J. Whelihan’s Pub and Restaurant.
The home teams will be skating in ten games and the All-Stars will skate in nine WFTDA sanctioned games, including a 175 mile road trip for a double header against the Connecticut All-Star Stepford Sabotage and Yankee Brutals.
When asked about the upcoming season, head coach Michele “Rose Beef” Dolgos replied, “This year we represent more than just the Lehigh Valley in roller derby, we represent progress, teamwork, and a threat on the track. Currently we are the strongest team in the history of LVRG, ready to take on opponents who were out of our league in seasons past. The 2015 season will be our most explosive season yet!”
This year LVRG will be offering advance tickets at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/1327163. Tickets will be $10 in advance and $15 at the door for adults. Children (6-12yrs) will be half price and free for children under 5yrs.
