In other Red Sox-centric news, they have signed Cuban phenom Yoan Moncada to a record-setting deal.  He’ll likely go to A or AA first, but you can bet he’ll be plaguing the IronPigs before too long.

This companion article says the buyers include Red Sox exec Larry Lucchino, and several Rhode Islanders, so at least the team could stay in the Bay State. A third piece from the Journal suggests, per the Pawtucket mayor, that whoever the new group was, they were bent on moving the team to Providence, and McCoy wasn’t even up for debate.
