Cody Asche’s rehab appearance tonight at Coca Cola Park was a rousing success–at least for IronPigs fans who might be starved for home wins (not to mention, HITS). Asche was 3-for-3 with a double, 2 RBI and a (winning) run scored in the 5-4 ‘Pigs victory. Cody played well at third. It was nice to have him back.
Also of note, Nate Spears played a nice 2B and provided 2-for-3 with two runs scored and a ton of hustle to help out. Leandro Castro had the game-tying solo homer in the seventh.
I thought O’Sullivan pitched a fine game. 6 ip, 8H, 4 ER, 0 BB, 5 K. The third inning kind of got away from him: A couple soft singles and a (maybe) hit-by-pitch had the bases loaded with no outs. Two sac flies later and the Knights have a crooked number. A double added another run in that frame.
Tyson Gillies and Koyie Hill had nice nights that don’t show up quite so brightly in the box score. Tyson looked good out there in center, had a nice single and run scored, and a sac bunt. Koyie had the winning RBI on the safety squeeze bunt and called a great game behind the plate.
Great to see Baseball Betsy at the game tonight! We shared some baseball stories and lamented some slings and arrows of the minor league blog scene–but all in fun. I’m glad she got to see a good game and a win in her visit to our little stadium in Allentown. Please go and follow her blog for news on what’s going on in Clearwater with the Threshers, the GCL Rookie team, the rehabs, and especially spring training updates.
Here’s one more Cody from Cheryl’s lens:
See you at the park,
