#IronPigs Opening 2014 Homestand Review – Attendence

The IronPigs started the 2014 season with a plan. April is the coldest, rainiest, most difficult month of the season for any team to draw in high attendance numbers. This year started off with two, count ’em TWO bobblehead nights and multiple other giveaways stacking the first week for us fans!

Then came the rain. We lost two openings already in the first week but gained two doubleheaders. Following the first homestand Pig fans are making a good showing, keeping pace with the distinct four teams in the lead so far in 2014. Currently in 4th place in the IL for fans per game average. Not far ahead are the fans from Louisville and Indianapolis (larger market areas) and topping the list are the Charlotte fans who finally have a park within their city borders. It’s a brand new park folks and Tommy V is involved so they are going to be strong for a while.

Charlotte Knights 10,210
Louisville Bats 8,704
Indianapolis Indians 8,402
Lehigh Valley IronPigs 8,329
Buffalo Bisons 6,411
Durham Bulls 6,245
Gwinnett Braves 5,983
Toledo Mud Hens 5,811
Columbus Clippers 5,742
S/WB RailRiders 5,623
Syracuse Chiefs 4,965
Pawtucket Red Sox 4,747
Rochester Red Wings 4,507
Norfolk Tides 3,970

I enjoyed this first week. I hope you did too!

OinK!
